Lying east of the city of Wenatchee across the Columbia River, hence the name, East Wenatchee is a municipality unto itself. The largest city in Douglas County, it has a total area of 2.3 square miles and a most recent population estimate of 11,480 people. This may not seem like much – East Wenatchee is a small city by most standards – but when you consider its 2000 population figure of 5,757, this is indicative of how sought-after East Wenatchee, Washington real estate has become.

 

This upsurge in interest in East Wenatchee, Washington real estate doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially to folks here who’ve long been aware of the gifts nature chose to bestow on their city. Surrounded by the grandeur of the Cascade Range, residents of East Wenatchee enjoy easy access to Lincoln State Park, which lies just seven miles to the north, as well as to the Badger Mountain Ski Area to the east.

 

Year-round fun in the great outdoors will be yours for the asking if you make your home in East Wenatchee, Washington real estate. The city is also part of the 10-mile Apple Capital Recreational Loop Trail which crosses the river twice and links East Wenatchee with the city of Wenatchee in Chelan County.


East Wenatchee is also known for being the landing site of the first trans-Pacific airplane flight, piloted by Clyde Pangborn and Hugh Hender, Jr., which took off from Misawa, Japan and landed in East Wenatchee on October 5, 1931. The city has a replica of their plane, the Miss Veedol, and named their airport the Pangborn Memorial Airport after Clyde Pangborn. East Wenatchee has also maintained a relationship with Misawa, its sister-city, who helped build the beautiful Bridge of Friendship Japanese Garden in the city.

 

East Wenatchee is also home to the Wenatchee Valley Mall and hosts the Wings & Wheels Festival every first weekend in October.
